Do you and your loved one say “Love You More” when you’re saying goodbye? I know my husband and I do. And my son and I always have. It’s been a special kind of tradition we’ve carried on through the years.
And yet, as meaningful as that is, it often feels like a competition! Its as though you’re putting your love on some kind of scale … like measuring tornadoes – “I love you as much as an F3″… “Well I love you as much as an F4”. That’s crazy right? Love shouldn’t be a competition.
And then I came across this definition of what it really means and my heart melted. Now when you say “Love You More” to your sweetheart, you can know this is what it truly means:
“When I say I love you more, I don’t mean that I love you more than you love me.
I mean that I love you more than the bad days ahead of us,
I love you more than any fight we will ever have.
I love you more than any distance that could keep us apart,
I love you more than any obstacle that could possibly try and come between us.
I love you the most.”
